RED SEA WATERPROOFING MANUFACTORY

Red Sea Waterproofing Factory (RSW) was established in 2012 and it’s considered to be among the newest factory in the region. RSW produces all types of products with a bituminous base which is widely used for infrastructure projects (Roads, buildings, residential complexes … etc) and mega projects like bridges, dams … etc. RSW is the newest extension to its founders in the infrastructure business, where the start was with contracting works and material supply for mega projects and we realized it’s the time to expand in our field of work as well as adding a new sector to our services, that’s how RSW started. We committed from the beginning to work with our clients and to provide them with our experience that meets their satisfaction and to get their trust. When Assuring quality is the standard to measure our work, it’s a must to be achieved with the newest methods including hiring the best experience and laboratory devices. We look always to an international standard like (AASHTO, ASTM, DIN, etc ) to satisfy our customer needs. Those all efforts ended up with getting the approval from MOT the only one authorized organization in Saudi Arabia. So, we are a unique bitumen factory located in Jeddah produce Modified bitumen (Superpave), Mc & Rc, waterproofing.

Polymer Modified Bitumen

Superpave (superior performing asphalt pavement) is a mix design system for new construction and overlays. The system uses a series of new performance based specifications, test methods and practices for material selection, accelerated performance testing and mix design. Superpave performance grade is based on the idea that a hot mix asphalt binders properties should be related to the conditions under which it is used. Fundamental properties based on rheology which uses tests that evaluate the material properties, stress, strain and strain rate over a wide range of temperature, loading, and aging conditions. Rheology is the study of the flow of matters under conditions in which they respond with the plastic flow rather than deforming elastically in response to an applied force. Some asphalt requires modification in order to meet specifications to improve pavement durability, to increase serviceable temperature range and to lower life cycle cost. Grades of polymer modified bitumen (PMB). From the temperature zoning map for KSA, the area was divided into four regions included three types of grades PG 70 – 10, PG 76 -10 and PG 82-10.
PG: performance grade

PMB 70-10

70: maximum pavement design temperature.
-10: minimum pavement design temperature.

PMB 76-10

76: maximum pavement design temperature.
-10: minimum pavement design temperature.

PMB 82-10

82: maximum pavement design temperature.
-10: minimum pavement design temperature.

CUT-BACK ASPHALT

Cut-Back Asphalt is prepared from penetration grade asphalt with suitable solvent as per the stipulated ASTM D-2027 standard. Cut-Back divides into three general types:
- Slow Curing ( SC )
- Medium curing ( MC )
- Rapid Curing ( RC )

MC1

MC-1 is prepared from penetration grade asphalt with a suitable solvent as per the stipulated ASTM d-2027 standard. MC-1 cut back is medium curing type prefixed with its kinematic viscosity.

MC70

MC-70 is prepared from penetration grade asphalt with a suitable solvent as per the stipulated ASTM d-2027 standard. MC-70 cut back is medium curing type prefixed with its kinematic viscosity.

RC70

RC-70 is prepared from penetration grade asphalt with a suitable solvent as per the stipulated ASTM d-2027 standard. RC-70 cut back is ripped curing type prefixed with its kinematic viscosity.

RC2

RC-2 is prepared from penetration grade asphalt with a suitable solvent as per the stipulated ASTM d-2027 standard. RC-2 cut back is ripped curing type prefixed with its kinematic viscosity.

LIQUID ASPHALT

Liquid asphalt is an economical cold applied waterproofing coating formulated from ductile, high-quality bitumen, select solvents, and special additives. Liquid asphalt forms a flexible, durable waterproofing film that resists the attack of weather, salt, and water.

INSULATION PRODUCTS

We are in red sea waterproofing factory always looking to service many sectors that used the bitumen products in its work. So, we worked to produce a lot of products that used as water and thermal insulations like oxidized bitumen that used in the insulation of building roofs and floors, and primer bitumen that used as a paint in concrete bases in buildings as well.

PRIMER D41

Primer D41 is a cold applied, general purpose roofing primer, formulated with highly pliable, flexible bitumen, select petroleum solvents and compounded with wetting and saturation additives.

OXIDIZED BITUMEN 115/15

Oxidized asphalt is manufactured from crude petroleum by suitable refinining to conform to the applicable requirement.

RSW LABORATORY

We are working to provide the best service to our customers. One of the most important requirements is product quality. And so we have equipped our laboratory with all the devices that guarantee the high quality of all products and that meet the requirements of the Ministry of Transport. The laboratory was also equipped with the appropriate technical staff that obtained the technician certification program on super pave asphalt binder performance grading

DISTILLATION

Distillation is a process of separating the component or substances from a liquid mixture by selective evaporation and condensation.

VISCOSITY

Viscosity is a measure of the resistance of flow of liquid

DUCTILITY

Ductility is the ability of a material to deform under tensile stress. It is a measure of how much strain a material can take before rupturing.

DYNAMIC SHEAR RHEOMETER (DSR)

According to AASHTO T 315, the DSR is used to determine the dynamic shear modulus and phase angle of asphalt binder. A complex shear modulus is a measure of total resistance of a material to deforming.

ROLLING THIN FILM OVEN (RTFO)

According to AASHTO T 240, a moving film of asphalt for 85 minutes and exposed to heat and air in the oven at 163 c. The effect of heat and air during the test simulate short-term aging of the HMA during mixing and construction operations.

FLASH POINT

Flash point is the temperature at which the heated asphalt will ignite briefly. It is measured by Cleveland open cup and measured as a safety precaution. Flash point is well below the fire point. The temperature at which the asphalt actually burn.

ROTATIONAL VISCOMETER (RV)

According to AASHTO T 316, RV test measures the viscosity of asphalt binder at elevated temperature. Viscosity is the ratio of the shear stress to the strain rate and it is determined from the amount of torque needed to rotate a cylinder. The purpose of the RV is to develop the temperature viscosity charts for estimating mixing and compaction temperature for use in hot mix design

PENETRATION

Penetration is to determine the depth to which a needle penetrated an asphalt under specified conditions of load, time and temperature. Therefore , asphalt binders with high penetration numbers called soft while asphalt binders with low penetration numbers called hard.

MSCR

According to AASHTO TP70, MSCR test is used to determine the percent recovery and non-recoverable creep compliance of RTFO aged asphalt binder. Percent recovery provides a means for determining the elastic response and stress dependence of asphalt under shear creep and recovery at tow stress levels at the desired temperature.
